30 Hour Famine![]() April 29-30, 2011
The ChillNaz teens will be participating in the "30 Hour Famine" on Friday, April 29 - Saturday, April 30. This event will take place inside of our Family Life Center. They may also be joined by teens from Chillicothe Westside, Kingston, Jackson, New Boston and Reynoldsburg. The plan is in the works for an "Student Assembly" at Zane Trace High School and Chillicothe High School to promote this event. They will be sleeping in cardboard boxes. All electronic devices (iPods, iTouchs, iPads, Cell Phones, Portable Video Games, etc.) will be collected at the door. EMT Care/First Aid will be available at all times. There also be some emergency food supplies (energy bars, energy drinks, etc.) on site if needed. Between now and then, the ChillNaz teens will be hosting several fundraisers to support the event:
Our group goal is to raise $7500.00. If we are able to raise $10,000.00 (or more), on the following Sunday, May 1, Pastor Jason, Youth Director Tim & Youth Director Michael, will ALL get their heads shaved (YES, I said, their heads WILL be SHAVED !!! - ALL 3 of them) during the morning worship service. (Sorry, Sherry, Kara & Ashley).
![]() Students around the world loving God and fighting hunger. It’s that simple. Every year, thousands of students unite to do the "30 Hour Famine." They learn about hunger-and then they do something about it. They raise funds. They experience hunger for themselves. Best of all? They help save lives.
Learn about Hunger:
Another child dies from hunger-related causes every 10 seconds. That’s 8,000 kids dying every day. Even those lucky enough to survive hunger will feel its effects for a lifetime. Hunger stunts a child’s growth. It leaves kids more vulnerable to disease and steals the energy they need for school. We can’t just sit here and let it keep happening. Raise Funds:
It’s all about saving lives. The 30 Hour Famine is more than just a nice idea. It’s about joining the fight against hunger - and doing something to help feed and care for hungry kids . . . All of which makes fundraising kind of essential. Without money for food and other life-saving help, kids don’t eat. Changing history isn’t cheap, and it isn’t easy. But nobody said fundraising has to be all weird and uncomfortable. Have some fun. Experience Hunger:
Let’s get hungry. There are loads of activities to help your group learn about hunger AND make the 30 hours fly by. You can use this sample schedule to plan your Famine weekend or design your own.
